Today more people are traveling than ever before. Why is this the case? What are the benefits of traveling for the traveler?

250 words at least.

This is not a usual IELTS question that contains two topics and you’re supposed to link them. This is a much simpler question and I strongly doubt that this question will ever be asked in the exam. However, we must prepare simpler questions as well.

First point: This is not a question on international travel. This is just about travel. So, stick to the CONTEXT.

Introduction: Introduction, obviously, introduces the topic. So, introduce it! How? Talk about traveling. Mention the reasons as well as benefits to travelers. That is, mentions everything you’re going to discuss in your body paragraphs. One of my students wrote:

“As a result of globalization, relatively low airline fares and publicity, people are encouraged to travel more frequent nowadays than in the past which consequently helps them to enjoy new experiences and acquire more knowledge about diverse cultures.” (Excellent introduction. Mentioned all reasons and benefits in one line.)

Body Paragraphs: Body paragraphs must explain the points you mentioned in the introduction. For instance:

Body Para 1: Reason 1 – Globalisation. Explain with an example.

Body para 2: Reason 2: Low airline fares. Explain with an example.

Body Para 3: Benefits to travelers – new experiences, knowledge about cultures. Explain with an example.

Conclusion: As I’ve stated innumerable times before, your conclusion should focus on FUTURE and IMPACT. Ask yourself these question “Why should travelers travel more in the future? Whom will it benefit?” Something on following lines will emerge:

“Travelling has indeed benefitted everyone – governments, travelers, and native people. More frequent travel will further help not only economically by increasing incomes of local residents but also bridge all social barriers through a better understanding of cultures.”
