IELTS Speaking Cue Card July 2017: Person Who Helped You at Workplace.

Talk about a person who helped you at a new workplace. Please say

– Who is he/she?
– What did he/she do to help you?
– How did you feel about it later?

IELTS exam awards one minute to think and up to two minutes to present.


“I’ve been working as a software engineer for the past five years and I’ve worked for two multinational corporations. When I joined the first company as a fresher trainee, I was completely new to the world of business and had absolutely no idea about the system. (Introduction)

My then boss, Mr. Reddy played an instrumental role in helping me understand everything. (Name of the person)

Mr. Reddy was a mentor. I knew technical things, he taught me soft skills such as how to talk to a prospective client. Hw taught me the art of giving presentations and the skill of writing effectively, (What did he do)

A few years later I realize that the skills he imparted in me through rigorous practice have played a vital role in my professional success. All engineers know technical things, but only a few know how to write and speak well. (Feel about later)
