The bar chart below shows the percentage of children from 5 to 14 years of age in selected leisure activities in Australia.

Summarize the information by selecting and reporting main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The given horizontal bar chart presents information on the engagement of children between 5 and 14 years in five leisure activities in Australia. (Introduction)

Evidently, a greater percentage of boys indulge in physical activities such as skate boarding and bike riding than girls. Also, about 80 percent of boys play computer games as compared to around 60 percent of girls. On the other hand, a greater percentage girls are involved in art and craft than boys. However, all girls and boys watch television during leisure time. (Comparison Paragraph)

All boys engage in watching television, followed by playing computer games, riding a bike and skate boarding. Only about 30 percent are involved in arts and crafts. Girls, on the other hand, prefer watching television followed by an equal percent engaged in bike riding and computer games. While about 60% engage in art and craft, only 25 percent participate in skate boarding. (Individual Paragraph)

  1. The graph illustrates the proportion of children by gender aged five to 14 in five different past-time activities in Australia.
    Overall, boys dominate girls in three activities, whereas, girls are higher in one activity which is art and craft. It is noticeable that both children preferred watching television.
    Beginning to the highest, watching television comprises of a whole percentage on both gender. Playing computer games is one of the leisure activities with approximately 75% on boys and approximately 50% on girls. Next is bicycle riding which makes up exactly a third and more than a half of the total for boys and girls, respectively. Skate boarding is slightly higher for boys with less than 50% than a quarter for girls.
    Finally, the only activity in which girls are more fond of, art and craft, has higher percentage in girls with more than 50% and just only more than 25% for boys.
