In some parts of the world, it is becoming popular to research the history of one’s own family. Why do people want to do this? Is it a positive or negative development?

IELTS: 40 minutes, 250 words at least.

PTE: 20 minutes, 200 to 300 words.

Answer:

For a change, I will not write an answer but give a suitable structure along with an explanation. Firstly, IELTS is an English language test. Do not make your essay technically strong. You will be awarded bands for better expression rather than technicalities.

Firstly introduce the topic with a 40 to 50 words introduction. Do not forget to mention the reasons why people search their history. Give two reasons that you’ll explain in the body paragraphs. Let me give a sample introduction:

“History of a family is a record of the family tree extending back to several generations. People in various countries prefer researching their family background since it helps in preventing many genetic diseases and scientifically denounces the idea of racism.”

The body paragraphs should explain the above-mentioned points in greater detail.

Body Paragraph 1: Genetic diseases + example. (About 50 words)

Body Paragraph 2: Idea of racism (Similarity among all humans) + example. (About 50 words)

Body Paragraph 3: Advantages and disadvantages. (70 words)

Conclusion, as I have mentioned in several previous essays, should contain the elements of FUTURE + IMPACT. Try to keep it as positive/ optimistic as possible. For instance:

“In conclusion, developing a family tree depicting the history of a person’s family promotes the feeling of unity among people and prevents many diseases. This helps in making a community socially more stable and sustainable while promoting the ideals of unity in diversity.”

In various countries around the globe, people are looking forward to trace their origins. Nowadays, people are moving towards the spirituality and peace of mind. In the field of neuro-science, we can find enormous development which lead to introspect inwards rather than outwards. Nonetheless, it’s a cardinal progress which has been done by the human kind.
Apparently, Neuro-science is becoming the core of every aspect of life. Moreover, doctors believe that if we could contemplate the source of the issue or any sort of disease, so, these could be dealt in an appropriate way. As, we do find some diseases or disorders which are genetically inherited.
On the other hand, there are some research has been done on the learning skills or abilities by the psychologist and neuro-scientist Carol Dweck who sheds the light on these historical introspections. At present, there is a shift of paradigm in the society which is leading the western world to this sort of phenomenon. In order to comprehend, the formation of habit pattern of humankind. It’s essential to establish a relation with our past or history. Recently, I read a book “The Power of habit” by Charles Dhuigg wherein he has elucidated numerous behaviour patterns those where related to the peoples’ historical backgrounds.
In order to conclude, I’d would like to mention that these researches are the result of the new development of the era of the technology and the zeal of researchers to know thee unknown aspects of humankind. In future, hopefully, there will be unprecedented research in this domain of historical introspection.

Advantages and disadvantages = Positive or negative development. Please give your opinion in the order the questions are asked. In this answer, I have followed the order of the question.

      1. Why people do this.
      2. Positive or negative.

Opinion should be given at one place ONLY. Do not repeat it.

Although such topics, in all likelihood , never will yield a consensual agreement, a constructive dialogue on why people research history of one’s own family can lead to thought-provoking discussions. My view is that irrespective of the numerous disputes arise on the either side, searching for origin has positive impacts on society development than being unknown.

On the one hand, there are some people who shed light on the fact that research for one’s own family preventing many genetic diseases. Such people may argue that, if you know the origin of the disease, you can defeat it. For instance, nowadays, there a lot of diseases with mysterious cause, that we have to research for it in the genetic history.

However, in spite of these arguments, I believe that research for one’s own family results in various favorable consequences. Firstly, defeat the genetic diseases. For example, sometimes, Hypertension has genetic causes. Secondly, know the tree origin of your family. Lastly, in a nutshell, research on family’s history brings a confidence to face life.

I see that there is a potential evidence to fortify the contention I have provided. Thus, I am inclined to come to the conclusion that researching the history of one’s own family has positive impacts on development.
