Maintaining public libraries is a waste of money since computer technology is now replacing their functions. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

People have divided opinion regarding the maintenance of public libraries. While some believe that investment in open access libraries is essential, I strongly believe that maintaining them is a waste of time and resources owing to the advancement in computer technology. (A well-written introduction. Some scope for improvement exists.)
Paper books occupy a lot of space. Public libraries have a huge number of books and magazines that occupy a lot of volume (Sentence 1 and 2 have the same meaning. The former sentence is not adding anything new.). In areas where getting space for any purpose is extremely expensive, I believe that libraries are a total waste of space (You’ve already said this. Not explaining your idea. Sample: Using computer-based library software reduces the precious space occupied by books and this space can be utilized for other economic activities such as hospitals and schools.). Besides, the manpower and funds used involved to maintain in maintaining libraries and the funds used could can be diverted in more productive areas (such as?). Thus maintaining a large collection of books seems to be a financial burden to on the society. On the other hand, advances in computer science has have made it possible to stock numerous books in digital form forms. This means a huge collection of literature and human knowledge can be compressed and stored in a computer. This not only saves space but also makes the search of books easier owing to different computer programmes. (Though both IDEA and EXPLANATION are fine, they are a repetition of the SPACE idea stated above. Please devote this idea only to “search of books made easier.”) For instance, a particular book can be searched according to its category, its writer or even with the name of its publisher‘s name with the click of a few buttons (maintain context for computers). This has led many libraries globally to expand their computer section by reducing the number of hard copies of books.
(Another idea: Can read library books in the comfort of your home.)
In conclusion, computer technologies have revolutionized the way libraries used to function
be. With a much lesser space and easier access and search facilities in computers (wrong modifier, explained in the video.), I have a strong opinion that maintaining public libraries is are indeed a waste of time and space. (Use terms like: Brick and mortar.)
