Answer:

It is considered by some that the best way of for improving road safety is lowering the speed limit as it forces the driver a person to drive slowly (avoid repetition – drive). Others believe that alternative measures such as …….. can be taken by the government such as road safety awareness campaign as most of the people are uneducated not aware of about the traffic rules and signs. (use such as next to the word it exemplifies)

Clearly, lowering the speed limit will not only force people to drive slowly but will also decrease the number of life threatening accidents occurring due to high speed. A study shows that most of the fatal car accidents occur due to high speed as the driver is unable to control the car in case of an emergency‘s. So, by lowering the speed limit will help in reducing the death rates and injuries from automobile accidents. (This is the advantage.)

However, others hold the opinion that lowering the speed limit will result in a tremendous increase in traffic congestions leading to reduced productivity. (You need to develop the argument before moving to the next point.) If people drive slower, there will be a lesser flow of traffic during a given period of time and this will result in more number of cars on road. Consequently, more people will spend time in their vehicles instead of doing economically productive tasks. A study shows that most of the people drive at a slow and reasonable speed regardless of the set speed bar (Okay, this point contradicts the previous point. If they’re already driving slowly, imposing a speed limit will not lead to traffic jams.).

So the government can take alternative measures to improve road safety. They It (the government = singular) can organise road safety campaign to spread awareness about the traffic rules and signs. A survey shows that almost seven out of ten people are unaware about simple road rules such as the zebra crossing, the overtaking lanes, the use of indicators the road signs. (Let us be a bit more specific) So such campaigns will play a vital role in educating the people about the traffic rules and road signs. (You’re merely repeating the previous statement. Please write more specifically) For example, the Chandigarh administration has made a computer based objective test compulsory for all drivers. Every driver needs to take the test which judges her knowledge of traffic rules.

To conclude, even though imposing a lower speed limit will reduce the number of car accidents, but it will increase the traffic congestions. (do not use but with even though) So the government can use alternative measures such as organizing road safety campaigns to educate the people about the traffic rules and signs. This will tremendously reduce the life threatening accidents around the world.
