Please read a similar cue card from a May 2018 IELTS exam: Talk about a song from your country.

Invest one minute in brainstorming about this topic’s questions. If you’ve not read my advice on developing each answer in a proper way, please read the lesson on speaking.

PLUS, you can implement the idea of collocations in this answer. Here is the link to a truly useful article: Lessons in speaking – collocations.

I’m a music lover and I listen to a variety of music ranging from (cohesion – ranging from X and Y to A and B.) classical and jazz to pop and rock. Recently, I attended a music festival which (adjective pronoun) was held for collecting funds for charitable purposes (collocation). The (refers back to the music festival) function included a wide array of artists such as Sufi singers from Pakistan and India and pop singers from Europe.

I went to this (referencing – cohesion) event with a few of my friends who (adjective pronoun) are as excited about music as I am. I did this for two reasons (make the response structured to score better bands). Firstly (cohesion), listening to music individually from a personal device is different from listening live and enjoying with thousands of people. The presence of a large number of people energizes the atmosphere and makes the whole experience more enjoyable (explain the first point thoroughly). Secondly (cohesion), the (cohesion) event was collecting money for cancer patients. I thought this was a perfect opportunity (collocation) to enjoy a wonderful evening (collocation) with my friends and make a contribution to the noble cause. (explain the second point thoroughly)

– What kind of musical programs are popular in your country? Well, people in my country love listening to modern Bollywood songs on the internet.
– Are superstar programs more popular than others? Of course. People love to see their favorite superstar performing live. That’s a dream come true.
– Does classical music help in school education? Why? I don’t think that classical music helps in school education. It certainly does not help students improve their performance in other academic subjects. However, it is beneficial to students who plan to become professional musicians in the future.
