Medical surveys play a crucial role in reducing health problems in a region. I think these surveys are beneficial only if they are conducted by the government (State your opinion). Only a government can collect patient data without any profit motive (Reason 1) and it has resources to use this data for greater public good (Reason 2).

Body Paragraph 1: (Explain reason 1 – no profit motive)

Governments throughout the world exist not for making a profit but for serving the citizens. Private companies and individuals, on the other hand, work to make a profit and earn a living. If they are given the responsibility of conducting medical surveys, they may use the collected data for profit. For example, private companies may use the data on heart patients to suggest medicines of certain pharmaceutical companies such as Cipla and Pfizer. Governments do not have these profit motives.

Body Paragraph 2: (Explain reason 2 – greater public good)

Moreover, governments conduct medical surveys with the purpose of public benefit and have resources to benefit from this data. They collect data from the citizens so that they can solve a specific medical problem. For instance, the Indian government collects data on polio cases every year since the year 2000. It has used its system of civil hospitals, doctors, medical supply chain to target the regions with the maximum incidence of this disease and this approach made India polio-free in 2017. Private players, on the other hand, can only collect data. They do not have the resources to implement this for the public good.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, unlike private companies and individuals, the government has massive resources and it has public good at heart. It can use the data to solve numerous health problems for its citizens.
