You are not happy with the course you are doing at college and would like to change the course. Write a letter to the college director requesting to change your course. You should include:

• What course you are doing now?
• Why you are not satisfied with that course?
• What course would you like to change to?

20 minutes, 150 words at least.

Answer:

Dear Sir/ Madam,

I am writing to request you to change my selected course as I am not contended (1) satisfied (content) with it. I have recently joined a computer engineering course at your institution, but I remain am unable to develop my interest in computer subjects. (I’m not satisfied = I’m unable to develop my interest. Write only one.)

1. Wrong word choice and wrong tense. Contend = compete; Content = satisfied. Content is an adjective. So is satisfied.

I have recently joined the computer engineering course at your institute and I have failed to develop a keen interest in its subjects. I am writing this letter to request you to shift me to the English literature course.

Let us briefly answer all three questions in the introduction. Just mention them. Reserve the explanation for body paragraphs (precisely what you’ve done).

Actually, after the completion of my secondary education, I was suggested by one of my school teachers to pursue a career in computer stream since this field has been flourishing these days. Owing to this, I selected computer engineering. But, to my dismay, I have been facing difficulties in learning complex computer languages and other technological concepts since the start of the course. Therefore, I think it would be better for me to switch to another course. (The arguments are well developed in a logical manner. The grammar is fine. Sentence structure is good. Cohesion is excellent. Well done.)

After self-analysis, I came to know that I have a keen interest in the English language. By selecting a graduation course in English, I would not only follow my pursuit (which pursuit? This is vague. Not clear.) passion for reading books but will also find a lucrative job as English has become a global business language. Thus, I would like to (you’re already requesting) request you to change my course so that I can start my studies at the earliest.
