Answer:
Introduction: (Introduce the topic, MENTION reasons support each view and STATE your opinion)
There is an ongoing debate about whether children should learn history or other modern subjects in schools. While history is important to develop deep cultural roots, modern subjects help in developing a strong career. I think they should learn all subjects to develop a complete personality.
Body Paragraph 1: (EXPLAIN view 1)
History is important for all children as it not only imparts knowledge about our ancestors but also teach the culture of a society. A study of Indian National Movement, for instance, helps a child learn about numerous sacrifices the Indian people made to break the shackles of British colonialism. Moreover, it is necessary to learn about various traditional practices that form the core of our cultural identity. French history is crucial to understand about the French food, language, religious practices, manners, and etiquettes that distinguish the French people from Germans and Britishers. Without learning about history, this unique identity cannot be created.
Body Paragraph 2: (EXPLAIN view 2)
On the other hand, learning modern subjects such as science, mathematics, accounting, management is vital for developing a strong career. Modern businesses need professionals who are proficient in a science or business domain. They do not need employees who have a background in history. For example, hospitals, automobile companies, construction businesses need doctors, mechanical engineers, and civil engineers respectively. There is no place for historians. Thus, to earn sufficient money for a comfortable life, children should learn science subjects.
Conclusion: (Conclude the essay with your opinion. – this will make the conclusion longer than the usual conclusions.)
In conclusion, I think children should learn both history and modern subjects to become a responsible and economically productive citizen. While history teaches them about patriotism through sacrifices of numerous people and, thus, binds them to the soil, it cannot help them earn a respectable living. A modern subject, on the other hand, can secure a career but it cannot create roots that form the cultural identity.
