• Give details of how you and your friends or family use the center.
• Explain why the sports and leisure center is important for the local community.
• Describe the possible effects on local people if the center closes.

Answer:-

Dear Sir,

I am writing this letter to protest against the decision of closure of “ABC Recreational center”, run by your council, as a result of cost-cutting. (The decision is not a result of cost-cutting. It is meant to cut cost. Also, they are considering it. The decision is not taken yet.)

You can avoid writing ‘I am writing this letter ….‘. Let us be original and communicative: I recently learned that you are considering shutting down the community center to reduce expenses. I wish to inform you about the vital role it plays in the routine of the residents and suggest the possible impacts of its closure.

Most of the community members, including me and my friends along with our families, (put these within commas) are actively using its services during our free time in the evening. My parents use the community hall for yoga lessons and the park area for jogging. My friends and I use sports facilities like play badminton and Swimming swim frequently in the sports area. (Avoid repeating the word use)

In addition to that, it is a favorite spot for locals to socialize and the children visit the center regularly for sports and games. In fact, it is one of the very few places that is are safe for children to play freely. All of the above reasons have led to strong bonding between people and have subsequently created a safe neighborhood.

Finally, if the council still goes ahead with the closure decision, it will be a huge (massive) loss to the community. Adults will find it difficult to socialize, and children will be deprived of a safe place to play and have fun together.

I sincerely request you to reconsider the decision. I look forward to a positive reply from the council.
