This bar chart illustrates the percentage of the British population that consumed five portions of vegetables and fruit daily between the years 2001 and 2008. It divides them to three different categories – men, women, and children.

Overall, throughout the eight years, the percentage of women was the highest, followed by men and then lastly children. Also, the percentages for all three were increasing increased till the year 2006, and they started to decrease after that. (The percentages for men and children seem constant from 2001 to 2003. Also, the percentages for all groups increased from 2003 to 2006 and decreased thereafter.)

The women‘s percentage was the lowest in 2001 at slightly above 20%. (1) After that, it started increasing steadily, reaching its peak in 2006,(2) after which it dropped slightly. Men’s The percentage of men, however, remained the same in the years 2001, 2002 and 2003. It then reached its a maximum value in the years 2006 and 2007 and dropped marginally in 2008.

1. What is 20%? Its women’s percentage. Right? Place the two next to each other. There are two ways to structure this sentence: “The women’s percentage, at about 20 percent, was the lowest in 2001.” “At about 20 percent, the women’s percentage was the lowest in 2001.”

As men’s, The children’s percentage remained constant in the first three years and started rising afterwards wise. It reached merely above 25% in the year 2007, to go down minimally and decreased marginally (slightly/ lightly) in 2008.
