Answer:

The pie charts illustrate the proportion of different age groups in Yemen and Italy for the year 2000 as well as the predicted number for 2050.

Overall, the elderly population in Italy are is higher than that of Yemen in both years, and the figure for this group will increase in both countries in 2050 while that for 0 to 14 years is lower.

Looking at the Yemen pie charts, in 2000, In Yemen, the elder people comprised for 3.6% of population in 2000. (1) This figure will reach 5.7% in 2050. (2) People whose age between 15 and 59 years occupied for 46.3% of the population in 2000, by 2050 this figure will grow to 57.3%. (2) Children population, in contrast, was accounted for 46.3%, the figure is predicted to decrease to 37%. (2)

1. In most task 1 questions there are two variables. In this question, these are COUNTRIES and YEARS. There are two countries and two years. Now, you can choose any one of them as THEME of the paragraph. You’ve correctly used YEMEN and you continue to write about it in all the sentences of the paragraph. Place the second variable (TIME) at the end of the sentence.

2. NOTE that the question is about MAIN FEATURES and COMPARISONS. A rise from 3.6 percent to 5.6 percent is NOT a main feature. Let us write: In Yemen, the elderly population was 3.6 percent in 2000 and it is expected to increase marginally by 2050. The population of people between 15 to 59 years will swell appreciably from 46.3 percent in 2000 to 57.3 percent in 2050. Children’s population, in contrast, will shrink drastically during this period.

In terms of Italy, in 2000, In Italy, people age 60 or more accounted for 24.1%, the projection figure rises will rise (is expected to rise) dramatically to 42.3% in 2050. For the 15-59 age group, the population comprised slightly more than 60%, it will decrease to 46.2% in the future years. Children population have a very similar figure (14 and 11 are not similar) in 2000 (14.3%) and 2050 (11.5%) respectively. (Children’s population will decrease slightly during the five decades.)

Note that you’ve not mentioned main features. You will not get bands for merely stating numbers. Also, you’ve just used to format “from 2000 to 2050“. Observe that I’ve mentioned a few alternatives – during this period, during the five decades.
