IELTS Letter Correction: Favourite Book To A Friend.

A year ago, you lent your favourite book to a friend who you thought would enjoy it. Unfortunately, your friend has forgotten to return it. The book has sentimental value to you as it had been presented by your grandmother. Write a letter to your friend. In the letter:

  • ask how he or she is doing
  • remind him/her about the book
  • explain why you need it back

Begin your letter as follows: Dear ________

Answer:

Dear Maria,

First of all, many congratulations on your new job. How is it going? I hope your new boss is co-operative and is treating you well. I have been thinking to write of writing to you for a long time, but my busy work schedule prevented me. did not let me do so(Though I have been planning to write a letter to you, I could not find sufficient time due to a busy work schedule.)

Anyways, do you remember I gave you my favourite book “Ikigai” last year? I hope you have enjoyed reading it as much as I did. Undoubtedly, (This word is used when you plan to refer to someone/ something else. Not for yourself.) it holds a special place in my heart since it was the last gift my grandmother gave me.

I have been trying to collect collecting all the things she gifted me, and Ikigai book it is one of them, so I need it back. I am coming to your city next month for some an office meeting and planning to visit your place to meet you and collect my the book. (‘THE BOOK’ is better in this context. It refers back to Ikigai.) I hope you have kept it safely.

I am waiting to see you soon in Delhi.

Best wishes,

Nick
